It was our third year in Monmouth running our specialist activity camp, XUK Excel and it was another brilliant, successful summer. There was a great mix of returning campers and new faces who quickly made friends when they arrived. The five weeks were filled with creating memories, trying new activities and forming friendships which will last a lifetime.
Once the summer has ended, we send all of the families who have children who have attended the camp a questionnaire. This helps us to highlight the strengths and wonderful parts of our camp, but also the areas we need to develop so that next year is even better...
Being a specialist camp, XUK Excel offers electives every morning – Sport, Media, Creative Arts and Water & Forest Adventure. We received great feedback on all of our electives.
Our Specialist Activity Leaders, selection of activities and facilities received great feedback within all electives – one parent particularly commented on our Creative Arts elective. “Very good well thought out activities.”
Our campers choose their afternoon activities and always have a wide selection to choose from, including Yoga, Rugby, Water Polo and a trip into the local town.
Every day is finished off with a brilliant evening activity. Some of our favourites this year included 'I'm a Camper, get me out of here!' and 'The Greatest Showman'.
95% of parent rated our afternoon & evening activities as good or excellent. One parent commented “My daughter loved the mystery night".
The team at XUK Excel is made up of Dorm & Activity Leaders, Specialist Activity Leaders, English Teachers and an Office team. They work incredibly hard all summer to ensure that our campers are always happy and safe.

95% of parents rated our staff as good or excellent and one family said “the dorm leaders seemed wonderful as we were abroad and they really helped us with our daughter.”
We found from our feedback that 76% of our campers have attended other summer camps before. Feedback as to why XUK Excel was better included:

“The camp, food and staff are brilliant.”
“It was more appropriate for their age and they loved the international community.”
As well as this, 98% of parents would recommend XUK Excel summer camp to a friend.
