XUK English, our English summer school will be celebrating it’s eighth summer in operation this year. It is grown significantly in size from it’s first year but one thing has remained the same... Our students continue to learn English in a fun way which sets us apart from other language schools...
We understand that students coming to our camp might be reluctant to spend hours each day in stuffy classrooms whilst their friends are having fun at summer camps. And that is why we endeavour to deliver fun and engaging English lessons at our summer school. English teachers often ask us during their interviews “will I be allowed to take my class outside during their lessons?” Absolutely, this is something we encourage and want to see our students up from their seats as much as possible. We want them to come away thinking “I didn’t realise we were learning, I was too busy having fun.”
If you were to walk into our English lessons, what would you see? You would see our students working in groups, playing games, taking part in drama activities, using interactive whiteboards or they might be about to leave the classroom to do something interactive outside! We know that you learn much more if you are engaged through practical activities rather than just being spoken at by an English teacher and repeating through rote. Our qualified English teachers have access to lots of resources and technology to make things as hands on as possible!
After our English lessons our over, the fun of learning and practising our linguistic skills doesn’t stop! We continue the day with Active English and end with Social English. Active English gives our students ample opportunity to use the vocabulary they have learnt that morning through fun activities such as different sports, arts & crafts and performing arts. Social English brings the whole summer school together for our famous Evening Activities. From sporting events such as XUK Olympics to a Despicable Me themed Murder Mystery, our students will be given the language they need to participate fully in these evening activities in their morning, interactive English lessons.
At XUK English, we take our students on two trips each week and the learning and developing our English continues on our trips! Every Tuesday, we visit a local town where our English teachers set tasks for their students in real life situations - asking local residence questions about the area, completing quizzes etc. Once again, we are learning English, the fun way!
We cannot wait for another brilliant summer at XUK English and watch our students English language skills develop! Bring it on...
