There are just 117 days to go until we welcome our first campers to XUK 2018. As you probably know, we are very excited and counting down the days until we are back in our second homes, but we understand that not everybody shares that excitement. We thought we would come up with a list of five things that are better than spending your summer at XUK Camps to help you out if you are stuck for alternative ideas and suggestions to do during your summer...
Where else are you going to make friends from all around the world? XUK Camps are a fantastic place to create international friendships that will last forever. Last year we had campers attending from 60 different countries around the world. Camp friends are the best friends you could ever have. After spending a week, two or six together, you will become really close with your dorm buddies and won’t want to say goodbye. Here at XUK, we like to say “it’s not goodbye, it’s see you soon!” Keep those reunions up and it won’t be long until we are all together again in our happy place.
Name us somewhere that isn’t a camp where you can try hundreds (maybe a tiny exaggeration) of new activities all in one place! We love to introduce new activities each year and help you push yourself out of your comfort zone and discover new talents. Every year, we have lots of campers trying new activities for the first time – often we find out international campers have not heard of Rounders before (a very popular summer sport here in the UK) and lots of you have a go at Water Zorbing for the first time – it’s a lot harder than it looks!
When you are at XUK, you can have a break from the real world. You have probably had a tough year of studying at school or college, so our camps are the perfect opportunity for you to let your hair down, enjoy being young and have fun, away from your parents! And while you’re with us, whether it is your first or tenth time away from home, you will grow in independence.
Being at camp, is the perfect opportunity to unplug and unwind from technology. After spending the year glued to your smartphone, leave it at home or at least in your dormitory and connect with those around you, developing your social skills at the same time! You’ll be able to follow your new friends on Instagram once you are back home, but during the summer, interact in person, have a laugh together!
When you are at camp, your character will build without you even realising. You might find yourself in new social situations or developing your leadership skills with our Leader in Training programme. You will also be mixing with other campers and team members from all around the world, you will learn all about their culture, languages and religion treating each other with honesty and respect!
Well there you have it, we couldn’t think of anywhere that is better or an activity more fun than being at XUK Camps this summer!
